HHC Names New Cancer Institute Physician-in-Chief

Nationally recognized hematologic oncologist and physician executive Adam M. Boruchov, MD, will join Hartford HealthCare in July as physician-in-chief of the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute.
Dr. Boruchov succeeds Peter Yu, MD, who is stepping down after more than a decade of leadership and will transition to the honorary role of physician-in-chief emeritus.
Dr. Yu has played a pivotal role in building the Cancer Institute into a leading integrated cancer program known for clinical excellence, innovation and patient-centered care across Connecticut. In his emeritus role, Dr. Yu will continue advancing strategic oncology informatics initiatives in partnership with Hartford HealthCare leadership.
Dr. Boruchov joins Hartford HealthCare from Northwell Health, formerly Nuvance Health, where he served as senior vice president and chair of the Cancer Institute. His career also includes leadership positions at Trinity Health of New England. He has extensive experience leading systemwide oncology strategy, expanding clinical research and trials, and developing high-performing cancer networks.
Dr. Boruchov earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his internal medicine residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital and his hematology and oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he also held faculty and research appointments
In his new role, Dr. Boruchov will focus on advancing innovation, strengthening physician leadership and further leveraging Hartford HealthCare’s strategic partnership with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to expand access to leading-edge cancer care statewide.
